Stop and think about the amazingly varied things our hands enable us to do. Their ability to perform rapid and precise movements allows us to play the piano, violin, or guitar. Their strength allows us to operate a jackhammer, lift heavy weights, or play competitive sports. Their delicate sensibility allows us to read braille, determine subtle differences in textures and temperatures, and convey affection to a loved one.
Underneath the skin of our hands lies an incredibly complex arrangement of bones, tendons, joints, ligaments and nerves, all of which must move and function in a very precise and exacting manner. When injury or disease occurs, expert care is needed to restore our hands to their fullest potential.
Dr. Cash has been guest lecturer at the world renowned University of the Arts which trains exceptionally gifted young musicians for careers as performing artists on the highest professional level. He frequently treats professional musicians who have performance problems using their upper extremities.
